Salahuddin Everett has earned a UFC contract after scoring a first-round knockout on Dana White's Contender Series, capping an unusual rise from working as Dana White's personal assistant to fighting on the promotion's roster.
Everett produced a stunning first-round knockout in Dana White's Contender Series to complete his rise from runner to fighter. The win was enough to convince the promotion to add him to its roster on the spot, the standard payoff for a dominant showing on the summer and fall showcase series.
From Dana White's Assistant to the UFC Roster
Everett's path to the UFC did not run through the usual regional circuit grind that most Contender Series prospects travel. He was working directly for Dana White before stepping into the cage, which is what separates this signing from the dozens of other contracts the show hands out each season. Everett is now on the promotion's roster after turning that single opportunity into a finish good enough to get noticed.
What a DWCS Finish Means for Oddsmakers
No opponent, weight class, fight date or finish sequence has been confirmed for Everett's first outing under the UFC banner, so there is nothing concrete yet to price. That is typical for a fresh Contender Series signee. Bettors who like to get ahead of debutants should simply flag the name for now. Once a matchup and date are announced, oddsmakers will set an opening line based on the opponent's experience and the gap in UFC-level competition, and a first-round knockout like the one that got him signed tends to keep a fighter's price from drifting too far underdog territory in a debut, assuming the styles and experience gap aren't lopsided the other way.
